Title: Urgent help needed
Post by: Kingfisher on October 13, 2008, 23:23:56
Hi all, can anyone help me, I have prepared 2 large beds and dug in Lime and Manour at the same time, planted 1 bed of Garlic and half bed of onions, I have just read in a book that you should not put lime and manour together as this causes ammonia, kdo I have to take out all the bulbs or will I get away with it.

Quotewill I get away with it.

That's a bit of a crystal ball job really.

I guess you will have to wait and see what happens because there is no way you can remove the lime/manure from the soil.

I am more optimistic about the fact that it is this time of year you have done it as opposed to doing it in spring/early summer.

In warmer weather there is more chance of the chemical reaction taking place, plus over winter there is a chance it will leech away with the winter weather.

So I guess its fingers crossed and all that, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I agree with TEE GEE, you say you have dug in the lime so there is every chance that it will be flushed through by the weather.
