Green with envy here ;D

I'm only just along the road from you and yet my butternuts were a total loss this year.  What variety did you use?  I used Hawk this year and Avalon in previous years.

It's a Wilko cheapie F1 called Winter.  I've grown it 3 years in a row and have found it very reliable.  I get on average 5-7 fruits to each plant.  This year even though it hasn't been the best for squashes, it still produced.  I don't do anything special.  The ground was manured overwinter with the toxic stuff and after that I just fed once a week with tomato feed.

I'm off to Wilkos then - I only got one from each of my three plants.

I got just one plant from four seeds, and that produced the princely crop of no butternuts!!

I can better that Trev, if we're going that way. I got 1 from 10 plants. Not feeling at all smug about it though... I'll be off to Wilkos as well!
