On your places, get set, ACTION!!!!!!!!
Get your camera's out or beg, steal or borrow one.
The idea is that for every catagory there will be one thread to post your pictures. If you are the first one to post in a certain catagory, you will have to start a new thread and name it but first look and see if the catagory already exists.
Comments about pictures can be posted on this thread or start a show-talk thread so there will be only pictures on the catagory threads. Otherwise it will be too hard to vote later if you have to weed through all the talk.
No more posting after 6 september when the polls open and everybody can cast their votes.
Good luck.
Ina - can I ask what the decision was regarding flowers and if so what were the categories. I could start a hanging basket thread if it is allowed.
Pat
Anything goes Pat, the show is whatever we all make it, I just got it started.
Have fun.
;D great to see some pictures posted.
I went to SOuthport flower show yesterday & the Shrewsbury flower show last Saturday and saw the vegetable competitions - if I had a basket, I could do a basket of veg selection.
I forgot to put the raspberries on a plate and photograph it before eating (they were yummy though).
Do the pictures have to be of something that you have harvested between 23 and 29 September? ie. can I post a picture of my onions, which are in storage, or is it only things that I have dug out of the ground this week!!
Ten x
Tenuse, I was wondering the same hahaha.
We had decided to take the pictures between 23 and 29 August (not September you silly hehehe). So, I hadn't been to the lottie today but did have the tomatoes from yesterday. I figuered hey, the picture was taken today so, I posted.
If you have a real show, you take the veggies there, who cares when you harvested right?
Budgy, many of my veggies are gone already, I would have liked to show my fabulous french beans and my crooked runners but alas.
Next time we should be able to post any picture taken in the past year in the show, don't you think? Ah Budge, your stuff looks so good.
Is a category for deformed tomatoes acceptable? If so, I'll post in a week or so when the ugly lump has finished ripening ;D.
;D ;D ;D @ Jill. Can't wait to see your 'ugly lump' !!!
Ina, I notice that some of the photos of veggies dont have varietys named.. I think that this would be useful especially as some of us may want to try that variety next year.
One more question Ina. In the hanging basket catagory is it ok to post photos of more that one basket??? Not being greedy just got quite a few.
It's everybody's show, I just helped getting it started.
It's all for fun really so whatever anybody can think of to make it more interesting or fun is fine as far as I am concerned.
I can imagine that if someone has three types of tomatoes, he/she may want to post them all on seperate pictures under the same catagory.
I agree, it would make it more interesting if, when possible. the variety can be posted with the picture.
Should I start a seperate thread for cherry-type toms, or just post my pic along with the other toms?
I think all tomatoes under tomatoes.
Looking forward to seeing them.
Jill - you are welcome to start an ugly vegetable/fruit thread.
Glad to see even more entries. If all goes well, which I think it will, the A4A 2005 show should be veg/fruit/flowers/produce harvested between September 2004 and August 2005. We can sort out a list of categories which could be more comprehensive and along the lines of a "proper" veggie show.
Sounds good Multi.
Whoahhhhhhahaha EJ! Nice girl like you calling that a funny veggie?
It's amazingly, giggly funny hehehehe. I've had some good ones in the past but this one takes the cake hehehe.
Glad you like it Ina. Ava fell on the floor laughing! I figured we must all get the odd 'oddity' when harvesting, so why not! ;D ;D ;D
It's hysterical EJ. Cheered up my morning when I found it today! Unfortunately all my carrots so far have been boring. I might have to grow some in stony or manured soil on purpose - I want funny carrots!
Glad to see even more entries - competition is starting to hot up a bit and there is still plenty of time for enterring. ;D
MV wonders what EJ did with that carrot!
I am more concerned what that carrot did with EJ, who once was a respectable woman.
what fun this is! Just to let you all know, there are 2 threads for french beans, I for one forgot there was a page 2 of veggies!
DP - don't worry, have moved my entry!
Now 3 pages worth of entries - I didn't realise how many "classes" we would have! And as for the 2004-2005 A4A show - can already foresee 75 classes, and that is just for the veg!
My thoughts exactly Multi, I am totally flabbergasted. Isn't it just wonderful to look at all those different crops?
Will you manage getting all those polls set up?
I can't think of any other way to do the voting.
Thinking of the voting - may have to have "rounds" or something as there are more entrants than I think I can fit in a poll (max of 8 options).
Oh jeez, I didn't realize that there is a max of 8 options in a poll. So far there are only one or two catagories with more than 8 posters.
I wonder if two polls can be put on those threads so you will have room for all the names of the posters in that thread?
I'll sort something out, Ina...
I note that Emma and Doris have put photos of patty pans in the show. Without wishing to appear ignorant - which I obviously am :D could someone please explain what these are and what they are used for. Never heard of them before.
Pat
They are another squash. I did think about starting a squashes section, but then thought that covers so many fruit that thread would probably run out of control. They are smaller than pumpkins, and I believe they are normally a summer used squash, like courgettes. I love them as they are so pretty, and I have much more success with them than with courgettes!
Thanks Emma - I agree, they are really pretty. I learn something new every day :D
Pat
JIM - they are Romano. Cara are like my Picasso in the show. = Tim
Just a couple of days left for posting pictures, Multiveg will put a poll on each category on Sept. 6 and it will be a big job, good luck Multi!
Hopefully I have access to a compi while I'm gone, I hate to miss all the fun. I'll be back on Sept. 12 so maybe I can still vote.
Who would have thought there would be so many categories and so many fantastic pictures. I vote for doing it again next year. What a great community this is, congratulations everybody.
Thanks Dan for making the show possible.
Who is going to get a ...................
So, no more pics after Sunday??
Ekkkk got company this weekend, better get my skates on!
Have already started to look at doing the polls - some of the classes have so many entries (more than eight), that I cannnot make just one poll - therefore, will have to, for some, such as toms and potatoes, split into more than one poll and the winner from each to go into a final poll. I will be as random as I can in selecting entries for the split polls. If a class has 9 entries, then I would split this into 3 polls with 3 entries in each. Will just have to have an uneven set of polls where the number of entries is a prime number....
As this is just for fun and there are no prizes, I think that this is reasonably fair.
Right - it is just gone 1am, and I won;t be posting all the polls now as I am shattered. I will post the rest up later this morning/lunchtime. There are going to be at least 2 pages of polls.
Grrrrrrr, all my photo's have disappeared, seems I have exceeded my data transfer limit from Yahoo. They say the pictures should be up an live again within an hour.
Not a great help just as voting starts!!!!!!!!
:-(
Jerry
I would just like to say a BIG thankyou to Multi for all the hard work she is putting in with the polls - burning the midnight on our behalf - I think she deserves a big Gold Award
Pat
PS Don't worry sanders I think your photos are still here.
I think that is the lot - if not, AARRRRRGGGHHH
I have tried to be fair as I could when splitting competitions into groups.
Noooooooooooooo :'( :'( :'(
I thought I had till tonight, and I've missed the deadline.
Oh well will have to wait till next year.
awww- Moggle.
Shortly, I will be closing the polls and putting up the polls for the Dahlia/Toms/Runners/Spuds finals.... Thankyou to everyone who voted, and there is still a little time to vote if you haven't already done so.
P.s. don't forget that there are 3 pages of polls...
I'll do the finals polls in the morning, and work out who has first prize for each category - more time for voting then.
What sort of training do you have to have to be so slick & confident?? Being a woman, I suppose? = Tim
But of course Tim ;) What else. ::)
