Title: Can you name these?
Post by: allaboutliverpool on October 04, 2008, 09:29:06
Just prepared for roasting.

Brownie points for the first to name all eight.

The picture is a bit of a cheat as the softer items such as tomatoes will be removed and added after half an hour in the oven
as they need less cooking.

Shallots,  courgettes,  Carrots, Butternut Squash,  Turnip / swede,  chille peppers,  parsnips.  Having a blond moment for the item on the bottom right.  I know it,  I don't grow it, it's name is on the tip of my tongue,  it will come back to me after I have posted for sure 8)

How did I do?  If anyone can name the particular variety of each then that would be impressive ;D ;D ;D

LBB got it right on the second attempt.

Shallots
Courgette (rather large hence sliced)
Cherry Tomatoes
Carrots
Sweet peppers
Parsnip
Butternut squash (The one on my posting)
Sweet potatoes (first ever- rather thin but I have learned a lot).

The rest ogf the meal will be potatoes, spinach and Sausages from a farmer's market in Manchester.

That is 10 home grown vegetables and the rather delicious Debbie and Andrew's sausages.

They have a website and deliver by post

Is that a sweet potato for growing in the UK, or slips from a shop one? Either way, it's making me hungry!

Anyone tried eating the leaves? In West Africa they're cooked like spinach.
