hi all, new to this site,had a plot for just over a year in birmingham. had great results and a few bad too,potatoes carrots and beets had holes so was a little annoyed,plot was grassed over so maybe next year il have LESS problems. if anyone does know the best way to rid wireworm then let me know?am going to grow cabbages in the areas of problem so hopefully the lime will force the critters out.had the best sweetcorn on site and also onions,courgettes,toms and leeks.pumkins are huge and bigger by the day so for my 1st year i couldnt ask for more

Welcome to A4A ;D
thnx people,good 2 be here
Wireworm numbers will drop over time. They're sub-turf creatures by nature, and only prey on our root crops while trying to survive the loss of their natural habitat.
Hello Gaz2000 and welcome ;D
What a fab first year you have had, it can only get better!
Im sure you will enjoy being here :D
Welcome to the site Gaz.
There is something you can sow that speeds up their departure... cant think of it just now, it's in one of the garden organic leaflets, it's like a green manure, they feed on it, get to the flying stage and clear off...
::)
Time will solve that one. Their main food is grass roots, so ruthlessly eliminate the grass, and don't let it come back. Whereabouts in Birmingham are you?
Welcome. 8)
