Did the flowers grow from a bare bulb on a dish. If so they could have been autumn crocus or colchicum. If not can we have more description, height, colour, time of flowering etc.

Eristic
I'm so sorry,
she grew them in the ground, they were way tall but i guess i was little so maybe 2 ft or so
they had like quite large flowers all the way up the stem and these bulb type things were
kind of dry and the new one grew either on top of or under the old one so there would be a little pile of them

Sounds like Gladioli - Dame Edna's favorite.

Same as all bulbs. Just shove 'em in, sit back & wait.

I buy a big bag (50 or 100) of mixed Glads (cost about 10p per bulb) and shove 'em in 10+ at a time, every two weeks from Easter onwards until I run out.

A friend has given me 100 Ixia mixture bulbs and 50 10cm Dutch Iris bulbs.  Will they be alright to plant in containers together?  Also if the answer is yes how deep should I plant them?

Many thanks
