.... a lovely patterned chili bowl set? I want one with pictures of chillies in/around the bowls. I saw one a couple of years ago and could kick myself for not buying it at the time. I've done various googles but can't really find what I want. The nearest I came was a set in a USA store which would have cost me a fortune on postage.
Any suggestions gratefully received! Thanks :)

ok?! ;) ;D
Blimey by the time you have added UPS costs, vat, postoffice handling charges, you would be better off signing up for an evening class and make your own.
I have seen something similar in a 'retail park' stupid name for a bunch of shops but they pretend to be cheaper, anyway try Wittards to start with.

Actually that's not a bad idea, why not go to your local pottery craft store some of them allow you to come and decorate your item they then fire it up and you collect it when its ready. if you are worried that you may not be able to recreate what you want free hand you could always use stencils/ make stencils with acrylic sheets from a craft store, just trace over a picture of desired chillies and cut out with a craft knife. then everytime it gets admired you could proudly say it was your design you did yourself :D.
not sure where you are situated but somewhere like this is what i am referring to - http://www.paintingpotterycafe.co.uk/index.html (http://www.paintingpotterycafe.co.uk/index.html)
In my experienec, for what they charge at those pottery cafes, the flaming chilli ones would ork out cheaper!
If you do go the do it yourself route, you can buy ready glazed plain pottery and buy decals, at the pottery studio.
There are millions of fired on decals, look on line under decals fired.
As the glaze is already fired and matured the decals only need a low fire to mature them.
I have never got into this in the UK but this was my business in Canada, it is a very simple procedure if you haver a shop that fires near you.
There are other options to making your own but this is the easiest and should not be expensive.
If you look at any china..eg Royal Albert all the pretty flowers on there are fired on decals, they are not handpainted.

Cor wish I was closer.....i'd buy it off you!
Thank you for your replies :)
DebP, I had seen those but not quite what I was looking for but thank you.
As Ace pointed out, trying to buy such things abroad will cost me an arm and a leg to get shipped so I'm definitely trying to find some in the UK.
As far as trying to paint my own ..... christ only knows what they'd come out like - I can't draw/paint for love nor money. Although thinking about it, my OH is a superb artist so I guess it could be done.
Thanks again :)
May be worth a look round some of the second hand shops........... :)
Also check eBay, I found a lot of different designs when I put in 'peppers bowl' as a search question. Again, a lot of stuff in the USA though..... :-\
we went to a chilli festival in the summer break there was loads of chilli related crockery there
perhaps you could try and find out about them?
