Title: Blooming Direct - anyone shop there?
Post by: pigeonseed on September 25, 2008, 14:04:18
http://www.bloomingdirect.com/products/Viola-Angel-Blues-Mixed.html

I bought a tray of 'plug plants' online from Blooming Direct for £10 and was really disappointed - they're tiny seedlings, not plug plants at all. If I'd seen this tray of weedy seedlings on sale in a shop for £10 I wouldn't have touched it with a bargepole.

Has anyone else had dealings with this company?

No, I have not used them but I think you should send them back.  No business likes to have their bad products advertised and I think they would be pleased to replace  and reimburse you also. Give it a try.
Good luck

well I did complain by email, but they didn't reply. I think I should try again.

I'll let you know what happens!

I haven't used Blooming Direct but I have sent off for other *what some companies describe as plug plants and I have been dissapointed too! You really need to grow them for a while....but they are so small I am not sure they survive being in the post. I will never used them again. I would rather do frequent visits to my local garden centre and see what I am about to buy!

I complained again, and asked for my money back.

This time someone replied and said he was sorry I was disappointed, he offered me a voucher instead of money back.

I decided to accept it - I think I'll use it for something like bulbs, where they probably can't be that much smaller than normal!

In the meantime, perhaps the 'plug plants' will be ready for planting by the next September!!!!

I definitely won't be buying plants mail order unless it's from a company with a really good reputation again.

Bit fed up waiting for voucher, didn't want anymore plants from this company anyway, so asked for money in the end, it's finally been refunded, minus postage!!

I found a tray of fully grown plants at B&Q for half the price in the end.

I can highly recommend this company.  Have bought plug plants from them for the last couple of years & am very happy with the quality.
