as some of you know, the only way the planning will allow us to keep our 8' pallisade ? fencing is if we paint it dark green, we have approx 300' inside and out to paint..anyone know what sort, thanks for any help ;D
It's usually just listed as metal paint you choose between smooth or hammer finish.

There are many manufacturers of paint for metal. If the metal to be painted has stood outside for some-time, then wire brushing/priming/undercoating and a top coat are usually needed. Other than that go for Hammerite. It's a bit pricy but does the job in one without too much preperation, so probably works out cheaper anyway.
yes, we looked at hammerite but, what a price :o
300 feet inside and out, 8 feet tall in some places, need another grant to pay for it :-\
I was in the industrial painting biz for a number of years...quite awhile back, but I used to deal direct on quantities.
Give me a shout if you get stuck, I'll see if I can dig out some contact addy's. No promises, but I can try some of my old phone numbers and see if the people I knew then are still breathing!
I had my own decorating business for 14 years. The paint which we used for exterior metal work was Bitumastic (available in standard green). This is the colour which is normally used for this purpose. If you have a McDougalls (Decorators Merchants) depot near you, you can get it there in 5ltr cans.
thanks, both of you..will have a look for McDougalls and if I need you, kk. I know where you are ;D
You can get hammerite in 'Highland Green' 4.5 litres for £14.99 + £6.50 P+P from ebay. They are currently listing 10 lots with combined shipping available. If I remember right then each litre will cover roughly 2.5 square meters.
