normally, I put u with stuff if it's cheap but this is taking it too far, 1.99 for 75 ltrs ::)
don't know what seed they think will grow in it, letter of complaint on it's way >:(
That's a shocker. Looks like they shovelled up the remains of a bonfire.
you should try selling it as scrap metal
there's bits of plastic and pottery in it as well as stones and twigs..Ray said we may as well've gone to the woods and dug it up ourselves, probably've been better ;D
well it does say it is multi purpose ;D
Where on earth did you buy it from?.
Send a letter to the company not the shop you may do well out of them!!.
What a nightmare to find all that rubbish, fight your corner on this one Manic.
sent one to the company, with photos by e mail..company called richmoor, sent them a flea in their ear, we'll see what they say ::)
their web site's fantastic, their compost is not >:(
That's a disgrace!
Mind you I see from the second picture that it's 'multi purpose with added...' and the next word is hidden. Are you sure they didn't warn you? ;D ;D ;D
G x
thry did say it was "Peat free" ;D
That's just shocking! :o
Like you, would put up with a bit if it was cheap, but that is ridiculous

the hidden phrase is "With added John Innes " ::) :o
Truly disgusting, fight 'em manics.
Looks more like the stuff I use on my barbecue.
just realised I hadn't put the shop name in..I bought it from netto
Quite frankly I think that matter should go straight to Trading Standards or whatever they're called.
Hey, steady on.
Have you thought that the company may not be to blame, it could be someone with a grudge against the company (having been given notice or some other reason) getting back at them. If all the bags were like that, wouldn't we have more comments about it.
Complain to Netto and the company, but be reasonable and you may finish up with a load of free compost. I once complained to a company about some faulty tea bags and received a voucher for far more than the value of the box of tea bags.
I've just sent pictures, the same as I've put on here, asking if their filter system has stopped working, I'm quite a reasonable person, really ;D
also, one of our friends bought one, he mixed it in with his greenhouse border soil ::)
I have never heard of netto are they like lidl?
Duke
yep, part of the big three, lidl, netto and aldi..
it's not them, it's richmoor, the company that made the stuff, no reply, sent another e mail, next I'm threatening trading standards...no excuses..it's been a couple of weeks now :(
just noticed, it's 3 weeks tomorrow..
found a piece of a metal file top yesterday, nothing interesting like coins or gold ;D

perhaps another email to them saying you've been using your metal detector and discovered several valuable roman coins in their compost and that you'd just love to know how and where they made their compost - that might get an answer ;D
the pile of muck is twice as high now, we're still not at the bottom of the bag :-X
I'm giving them 'til wednesday then they will get an e mail about trading standards and trading standards will get the pics ;D
Last year I got a bad of Levington's john Innes 1 from local garden centre that looked like that with big pieces of bark in it I suppose i should have taken it back but I just used it as mulch on the border and never buy that brand anymore. There was no way it was seedling compost more coarse bark mulch.
Just caught up with this Scousers :o , if they haven't replied by now it would be no more mister nice guy, gloves off and good luck. ;D ;D ;D
e mails sent to them again, plus the trading standards, just wish someone would answer, somewhere ::)
won't ever bother with lidls £1.49 a bag compost either-i did a trial with another sore(3 bags for a tenenr from our local cheapie shop)and the leeks i put in to 'bring on' just squatted there-as far as i can see there is no 'goodness' in the lidle stuff....not quite as bad as manics woodland seection bag tho....
kitty
xx
Any update on this Scousers. ??? ;D ;D ;D
effing mad, ck..can't get the parent company to answer, trading standards are a waste of time..I've e mailed head office of richmoor, friday, I'll give them 'til the end of the week..don't want to ring them, it'll cost me but if i have to, I will ;D
Hi, I'm not going to name the product concerned, but the company I work for (an international toiletries company) found them selling counterfeit products of ours. Trading Standards and Fraud Squad were involved.
the plot deepens...fetch my deerstalker watson!!! ::)
thanks, brian4951..by the way, welcome to the site ;D
well, trading standards e mailed me back, at last..she wanted some more pictures and details and is looking into it ::)
I've almost forgotten why I complained in the first place ;D
RESULT!!!!
after getting in touch with trading standards, they decided they couldn't do anything as mine was the only complaint :(
BUT they rang the company who said they had had difficulties with the e mail address for customer complaints ::) not sure if this was a cop out
anyhoo, trading standards gave me another e mail addie..sent it off 2 days ago, heard today, they're sending me vouchers, very sorry, isolated incidence, could I please send the bag back so's they can trace it from the batch number, I can't find it so they can try..I'll let you know what I get, shan't be buying compost with it, though ;D
Glad to hear your perseverance paid off Manics. Too many people just shrug their shoulders and complain to all and sundry - but not to the manufacturer of the substandard product!
Well done you!
Tricia
Well done! Persistence pays.
well, got a £5.00 voucher, going to the garden centre at the weekend, they've got all the christmas goodies out ;D
not a fortune but we'll get something, not compost ;D
sounds like a result :)
Nice one Scousers. ;D ;D ;D
