Title: Sugar Snap Peas
Post by: Pixie on August 19, 2004, 09:42:15
Now that I am planning next years stuff for when my lottie is cleared. I was wondering if anyone had any info on Sugar snap peas or mange tout etc.

My other half does a lot of cooking using both of these and I haven't attempted them before. (Grandad has the opinion that Peas is Peas and runners is better!)

Sugar Snap, at least, are easy to grow. But - as with so many things - you get a glut. And whereas you can freeze pea peas, the snaps lose their snap. Which, to me, is the main point of them. = Tim

ooh - that is good news tim - I'm planning them for next year. Love them. But is it possible to have too many?

Would staggering the sowing stagger the harvest?

Hi all,
mine sugar snag they have turn very well. And very sweet when I ate them I thought I have put sugar in when I cook them. And they're size bigger then mangetout and much better. They last long season. I started mine on1st April. Ready to pick mid of May. Only just finished two ago.
Must have to try it next year.

My problem with staggering was that, even with three weeks between sowings, everything still sprouted at the same time.

No sign of a glut, though, we manage to eat it all quite nicely!
