:)
Anyone see this today? Valentine Warner wandering about and explaining seasonal food.
Quite liked it and there were some fab recipes, but wish the camera would get over itself and stop doing crazy close-ups!
:-\
i didn't, but will look at it later re your review ;)
We really enjoyed it - lovely to watch people so enthusiastic about their food & not pretentious!
Bumping it back to the top, it's on tonight BBC2 8.30pm
;)
On now - a re-ping ;D
I watched the programme last night and really learnt a lot. I was particularly interested in how to cook pumpkins and squash. I made a pumpkin soup last week, threw out the fibres and seeds and just used the flesh. Valentine Warner uses the bits I threw away to make his soup and uses the rest of the pumpkin as a serving dish. Very interesting.
Last night's programme can be seen again on here:

There are also links to the previous and future episodes.
Has anyone got the book on which the series has been based and is it worth buying?
Does anyone know the name of the squash that was cut open in the field and then eaten raw please. Those lovely green seeds would be good on bread.
i liked the first program but really enjoyed last nights as i eat everything he featured. will certainly try the onion tart. and i will also try his recipe for pumpkin soup, i use more savory seasonings and herbs.
I like this programme as well - made the grey mullet fish soup from last weeks - it was brilliant!!!
Anyone gone Signal crayfish trapping yet?
Pauline, I thought the same about his soup, but when I looked up his recipe on BBC food, it says to dicard the seeds and fibres and use the flesh! ???
How weird. ::)
