Every year at this time I make a list of all the things we didn't grow ENOUGH of and every year it's the same ::) Will I EVER learn?
1. BEETROOT: One of my favourites and NEVER enough. I've put 4 packets of seeds on my list to Santa
2: ONIONS: Seemed to have planted millions but still not enough to last over Christmas :(
3: PEAS: Another favourite of mine but I never grow enough and late ones never seem to do very well
4: POTATOES: Stuck a few in the freezer but still getting worryingly low on stock in the shed. I REFUSE TO BUY POTATOES FROM A SHOP!
5: SWEETCORN: Not many per plant this year. Think I'll plant about 60 next time.
Think I need a few thousand acres ::)
Carrots.Wish I had sown a lot more. :)
Betula I sowed thousand but none of the b****ers came up!
cauli, turnip, peas, broad beans, rocket actually the list could go on for a while!
Red onions, carrots (would have grown more if I'f known I was gong to succeed at last!), french beans (because they failed utterly).

I did no good last year. This year BINGO,Only wish I had thinned them properly as the sizes are all different, small, very Small.big ,massive, tiny tiddly.Get the picture?
No carrot fly though and I read somewhere that this guy never thinned his and he reckoned this helped prevent carrot fly as they can't smell them. :)
Peas, broad beans, beetroot, red onions and carrots (like caroline7758 I was surprised by my success with those that I did grow). Wish I hadn't given over so much space to marrows, squashes and courgettes.
ditto on the carrots, beetroot, sweetcorn and french bean. also plan to grow more beans for storing dry. would also like to grow more pumpkin and squashes for winter storing, but space is an issue, so if i don't get my 10 x 12ft workshop over the winter/ spring then i will grow more of them in that space.
Peas and vegetable spaghetti squash (son has discovered an alternative to pasta :))
Shallots, onions, second early potatoes.........now have bit more lottie room, so I've just ordered a load of shallot sets today! 8)
Salad leaves, seem to go to seed before i could get to it. :'(
Oh and grey hairs...still don't look distinguished enough. ;)
everything exccept beetroot
lbb
Squash, don't tell Jeannie!! ;)
Beetroot - (again, I never seem to sow enough!)
Melons and courgettes (although if the flowers had germinated properly I might have said otherwise!)
Not carrots - I was lucky and very successful this year so I'm having to give them away - even the pet rabbit has had enough!
Everything!!
Because of work & home commitments, and the wonderful weather, I never seemed to be on top of the sowing this year, one day I'll get the hang of this allotment lark!
On the other hand, I have a fabulous crop of weeds................bit embarrassing really! :-[ :-[
sweetcorn, 1/2 of my plants only lasted one night, bl**dy slugs!
Peas, sweetcorn, onions, winter veg - swede, turnip , parsnips, sprouts.
Over time I've come to realise that while it's all very well having great crops in the summer (I'm dreaming of course!), it's really the winter stuff I like the best, i.e. casserole goodies. :)

My lottie neighbour never grows summer veg. He only ever plants winter veg. Brassicas and spuds. Always does very well. (And my hens love him. They get loads of extra greens from him during the winter months.)
We always run out of just about everything I grow. Harvests are mostly decent enough with not too much lost to the birds and disease. I have grown what I can in the space I have on my plot. If I had more room I would grow more. And also grow some things I just do not have room for - like watermelon. This is the main problem - running out of space. The space I have is filled to maximum capacity. Definitely need a 2nd plot. (Aaahhhh.... One can but dream ::) ::))
Every thing as I have only just got my plot ;D
£10 notes.
Maincrop peas. No space.
Sweetcorn.
I miss the £10 notes most though.
what didn't I grow enough of? stuff that goes with courgettes and marrows ::).
and hair.
Oh, and melons too........I didn't manage to grow any to a decent fruiting size!!! :'(
broad beans (over wintering)
mange tout - never manage to grow successionally, one glut and it is all over
carrots - rubbish germination and major slug damage has not left us with much
parsnips - only one germinated out of an entire row, saving it for Christmas!
Would of liked some very nice Onions, Collies and Peas :)
This is my first year having an allotment! Most of what I grew was sowed without even thinking of quanities. Everything has grown I just dont have enough. So next year!.....more of everything!! Less Runner Beans and more French climbling beans. Lots of onions! Parsnips I will try start off at home first. I was so pleased with my sweet corn that I will grow lots more next year.
