Hi it usually depends where you live! in our area stables are begging us to take it off there hands, they even deliver it F.O.C. however in true Lotti style we do share some of our goodies. I think there was a change in legislation something about disposing of it in a responsible manner!
As for cow manure farmers are usually happy to deliver as long as there are enough people interested but there will be a charge.

Hi Strawrasp, if you cant get any from a farm or horse stable, try focus diy stores they sell it in bags, ;) ;)

or try your recycling center they do the green waste, some times for free or in bags £1. to £2. per bag depending where you live, ask about a 3 tonn skip.
they may even take it to your allotment for free,  ;D sometimes if you take a big skip every few months, it just depends on the department manager,
the cost can be shared by all the allotment menbers if you share the skip load,
hope this helps

It depends what you are using it on.  Generally it can be a bit strong for smaller plants - always best to leave it for a year to rot down properly although if I am really pushed I shove some in and mix it well but certainly only use it for larger plants rather than a seed bed.#

Hi... I managed to contact some riding stables who were happy for me to come & cart as much horse manure away as I wanted.

From back of their pretty large pile I get well rotted manure which I put on beds in Autumn. But I also bring back fresher stuff & pile by my compost bins. Then mix it with kitchen waste, allotment waste, shredded paper, chicken manure & bedding. Really heats up!

Only down side for me is I haven't got a trailer, so when I bring back sacks of horse manure the car fairly steams up!

were i live we can't get any manure from the farms, the price of fertilizer has shot up and the farmers don't want to sell any  :(
