we have a glut of runner beans - as usual ;)
the freezers full so is there any other way of storing them please??? ;D
we've given loads away and eaten tons - at least it feels like tons - the wife s fed up with them every meal just now

you could let them mature/ dry on the plant and then store them in an air tight container to make or add to stews.
In the olden days they strung them on string and hung them in the attic to dry.
Bet the wifey would just LUV another job :-\
I have been making them into soup. No onion, just sweat in butter, add stock & cook until soft, liquidise and add milk or cream and Parmesan. It is delicious and uses a lot more beans than if putting on the plate as a veg. My kids love it but are fed up of beans! Sometimes I do this with French as well or a mix of both.
Also frozen some like this as a concentrated soup base.
Shame my beans are slowing down now!
I used to take my surplus to work (large office) and one workmate would share them out, charge every one 20 or 30p for a bag (same as supermarkets were charging 90p for) and bring me the cash, only about £2 a time but the second year, people were asking when they were ready. Same with courgettes.
Another plot holder takes his extras to his local pub where they do meals and gets a free pint.
