Hi all,
I am about to enter some of my veggies in the local produce show tomorrow. I've never done this before..and was wondering how sweetcorn should be displayed?
Any other hints and tips would be good. I am entering:
4 runner beans
4 potatoes
5 different types of veg
an unusual vegetable
barkingdog
I don't know anything about showing veg but just wanted to wish you luck.

Wishing you lots of luck barkingdog - did my first ever show today and felt like a jelly all week.
Can't help you out with beans as I didn't show them but the ones I saw were all the same length and crisp when snapped ( as the judges do ).
Didn't do potatoes either as couldn't find same sized ones but they were all cleaned to show colour.
Different types of veg = anything you feel comfortable putting in really that's not already covered in the schedule elsewhere.
An unusual veg - what have you got growing that others might not have??
Have learned to go with what I had on the day and maybe surprised ;D
Good luck

Thanks for the advice and good wishes...
I did manage a second place ;D with my crookneck summer squash in the unusual veg class! There were 11 entries so I was pleased with that! Something to work on for next year!

We entered our first veg show this weekend, (just a local village one) and guess what 1st. for 3 onions from sets (one and a half pound each onion) First for longest runner bean (22ins) 2nd for freak veg beetroot (seven and half pound and ugly) Also 1st with 3 pom pom dahlia`s not so proud only 2 in class. Lots of fun. ;D
It'll become addictive, just like saving seed ;D
Well done to your Good Gourd.
