This has got to be the worst ever year ever for my show veg since i started,
What with farmers doing their best to not help me grow, very few sunny days and never ending rain. Its been very dissapointing but still never mind start a fresh in Novenber for next year.

they all look beautiful to me! ;)
Me too.
I would be happy with just the ugly ;D
Good luck with your show. :)
The stomach, which is the only judge that matters, doesn't notice what it looks like!
Can't grumble at that. Grubs grub. 8)
your picture of "The Ugly" is the same as"The Bad"! This is terribly non PC. What about all those poor people who are Ugly and Good! such as erm (tricky one)
I commiserate with you Dave having been there in past years.
I would guess your leeks were grown under cover, in hindsight, they might have performed better outdoors. I know my 'maincrop' leeks are romping on and are much further on than they have ever been before for this time of year.
Reflecting on this year; I would say it has certainly been a better year than last which was not difficult to do.
True we have had more rain than last year but it was steady rather than torrential which caused the floods last year.
I find I have had a good year for my brassicas, the calabrese & cauli were brilliant so much so I had a few pinched. Looking at the sprouts they look promising so the steady rain has certainly helped them.
Regarding potatoes my earlies were poor but my second earlies & maincrop again seem promising when I checked them.
Onions best for many a year and guess what? no 'white rot'
My carrots look good as well and I didn't cover them so I guess the 'carrot fly' doesn't like rainy weather.
On the bad front is tomatoes, here I have had one of the best crops ever but for the first time in all of my gardening career I got 'tomato blight'.
When looking for a reason I can only think it has been the damp sultry weather which has affected the ventilation (or lack of it) in my greenhouse.
As I always say after each season;
There is always next year!!
My appoligies here is the ugly

LOL i am afraid i don,t have high standards well not that high but they are supposed to be shart carrots and i would have loved to have had a matching pair. I guess i will just have to make matching slices for the pot.
