The pic below was taken around 1960 and shows my partner, Marianne and her longtime friend Marina.
Sadly, Marina has a matter of weeks to live due to liver cancer. She's asked me to if I can 'mend' this pic and frame it.
I've just got hold of it and will make a start today. If anyone else would like to have a go I'll gladly print them out and maybe cover her wall with them.
Text on the pic from you to Marina would be a nice touch.
Anyone want to give it a go? Do what ever you think looks good, just try and keep the two girls recognisable.
Thanks, Ken.
Hi Ken.
I noticed this last night and thought at least someone would pick it up and answer you. I am afraid my mucking around with pics is limited. Greenwizard would take up the challenge I am sure but she is missing today. Sad to hear about your Partners friend though. That bludy awful cancer seems to be affecting lots just now. At least I keep hearing about it and I am waiting on an old school friend going soon, she hasnt long. She will be the first in a group of friends of about 17. We had a get together in April and she was well, sad. Hope you get another answer soon.
Glad to see you are back though. Hope your life is on an even keel now.
;)
I had a bit of a go last night without too much success.
I can make it sharper, crop it to fetch the girls closer to the fore and tint it ( give it a sepia or blue or green tinge) but I can't reproduce it in colour ( or at least I don't think I can).
It is quite easy to add text but what I don't know is which one is which, so can you point out which one is on the left/right so that I get it right.
Thanks for having a go, TeeGee. I've added a new background and played with repairing the fence. Still 'playing'.
Marina is on the right - dark hair.
Ken.
I too saw this last night but didn't know what I could do with it, if anything. Was hoping someone would do something first to give me an idea what one could do.
Like you Tee Gee I wondered if you could turn it into a coloured photo.
I'll give it a go later as it is a great idea.

My first quicky but it's heading for the bin.
Had another go without much success see what you think to this;

Hi Ken,
Sorry can't help with picture.Just wanted to say sorry about your friend.
We have had three friends die over the last few months. We also have a friend undergoing treatment for cancer,so much bad news lately has made us feel pretty low.
Hi Ken
here is my first try, I will try to do a better version later.

Wow. Thanks for all of those. As you can see, the background is a bit crappy and needs a bit of seeing to. So far all the submissions are goody. Keep it up, keep having a go, there is still time....and the comments are pure gold.
Thanks, Ken.
personally, if it were me I would just give it as it is, as it was - give with love and affection attached to the memories and it will be received like that :)
Well actually, she gave it to me to 'mend'. I'd rather try to do something with it and hand it/them back to her mended as she wished. With all the good wishes of course.
Thanks so far everyone. Ken.

I'm liking this, Carst. Want to add a word or two to it?
Ken.
In the first place: How do you copy the photo??
Hi Ken
here are a couple of other ideas but neither are really in keeping with the time of the photo. With regard to saying a few words it is difficult as I don't know either of them, but how about a title for the first offering along the lines of:
Friends then, now and forever.....
This title may work better if a more recent photo were put with the first offering.

Hi GrannieAnnie
if you click on the photo in the original post a new window will open, then right click over the photo in the new window and left click Save Picture As.. to save it to a location of your choice on your PC.
Hope this helps
Carste
Carste, I really like those, is that layering?
Sinbad
Hi Sinbad
I cut the background from the original pic leaving Marianne and Marina then opened the new background and copied Marianne and Marina on top adjusting the scale as required then flattened the image.
Carste
I've had a quick play, what a lovely photo. I don't know what else to say.

Thanks Carste,
I don't think I'm that clever. Have a book that tells me how to do layering maybe I 'll read it and see if I can have a go.

Really good ones there, Tink. The first is very much as per original with repair.
Everyone is putting so much work into these.....I see that. Thanks.
Ken.
