I've been offered a Lottie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
As our parish council doesn't have any lotties, I applied to the next local parish that does (about 4 miles away!) ages ago and got told no as I was not from the parish. :(
Anyway I left it for a while and phoned them today and enquired again and was informed that there are two available and need attention and as no one has enquired regarding them one one can complain that I am out of parish and that they would send the forms for me to fill in and return with a cheque for £15.00 and it will be mine all mine
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Have now booked a week off work for September to get it all ready.
Just thought, I will have two gardens - my shared one at home and my lottie ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Wahay! Congratulations!! See, it does pay to bother these council folks from time to time. Well done you! ;D
You jammie dodger, :) you took the biscuit and got it, or was it cake and eat it? ;) anyway, well done Pixie.
It pays to tell your friends and family about your lottie as I now have loadsa second hand freebies, fork, spade, rake, riddle, shed and what looks like a fairly new plastic compost drum. ;D
Spread the word you too will have nice peeps around you. :)
Roy. :)
Congratulations, Pixie. Your new life starts here ......
CONGRATULATIONS PIXIE!!!!!
Well done Pixie - good luck with your new lottie ;D ;D
Hi Guys
Nice to be back on line - I missed you :-*
I went to see the lottie again last night. I have been asked to take either plot 5 or 6 but I am a bit confused as plot 6 is obviously being well used ??? and I don't want to cause any hassle so I guess it will be the overgrown plot 5.
It is about 12ft x 100ft and behind some terraced houses (so anything I put there should be quite safe) and many of the houses rent the lotties as extra bits of garden as they only have courtyards. It slopes downhill a little (not much) and has fab views over the countryside. :)
I was a bit disapointed that only 4 or 5 seem to be partially used for veg, the rest are laid to lawn, but the ones that are used for veg look lovely and I'm sure that I have a lot to learn.
All I have to do is take in my £15 and fill out the paper work!! I will find out the postcode and you can multimap it, if anyone would like to see let me know. :)
Sam
Hi Pixie!!
You are lucky!!
I first enquired in July - choose my plot a wek later but still haven't had an agreement back to sign yet!! ::)
NobbyMan -do you need one? I had my first spuds by the time I got an agreement to sign.
My sort of agreement too, 1 side of one sheet of paper in readable print :)
Jeremy
Is it legal to take possession of a site before the agreemnet is signed? :o
I don't know, when I took over mine I was told not to worry about the paperwork -it would turn up when it was ready. I think that they may only do it once a year.
I'd have a word with whoever runs the site and see what they say, ours has virtually no organisation -long may it last :)
Jeremy
I was informed today that plot 5 is now mine and the agreement is in the post - just drop it and a cheque in when passing the parish council offices!
Easy :)
Try giving them a ring it may have slipped their memory
Sam
:'( When will I get mine!!! :'(
Soon I hope :)
Sam
This is my lottie - I have received my contract back from the council, now I can plant what I like ;D ;D ;D ;D (well when its cleared!)
Sam
Bother :( photo is too big - I will have to wait until lover shows me how to make the photo smaller.
Sam
My lottie ;D
Hey I did it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Next lottie along and then a disused(but allocated) lottie
The rest of the lotties - there are another 5 behind the tree - most aren't used - some are lawned
There are two lotties to the left of mine which are being used for veg ;D cant really see them in this pic
Well done Pixie and what a lovely place to have a Lottie set in beautiful Cornwall, you will be able to grow the more tender stuff down there too. 8)
Roy
Thanks Roy
Cant wait to see photos of your new lottie ;D I know I have a lot of work cut out for the autumn/winter just clearing, I hope your new plot has been tended to.
Sam
Well guys guess what - I cleared the lottie - I planted 10 tons of spuds (okay bit of overkill but loads!!) and as soon as I had planted more stuff the council had water tap problems and due to everyone else living in the terrace which backed on to it and most using them as turfed gardens they decided it was uneconomical to keep the water tap there as it would have been v. expensive etc and everyone else can use their own supply!! how depressing is that - the old chap whos lottie is next to mine offered for me to stay and use his water but bless him he is on a water meter and so I handed the lottie over to him which I think he was quite pleased about as he said that he had had his eye on it for a while but would never have cleared it on his own. Still visit but just to eat lunch - have put my name down for another lottie but is is much smaller ( last one was 10 x 100!) and lots of keen lottie people have them there but I will always be last on the list cos I'm still 'out of parish' area. Nevermind I can still dream!!!
Pixie - what a blow :(  Wish you all the best with getting another one asap.
Thanks guys - yeah i hope i get anotherone soon but there are 7 on the waiting list already and i will always be at the bottom being 'out of parish' an all.
Went to see old lottie today (murphys law isn't it - get a job where i can now walk to lottie and lose it!!) and visit during the begining bit of lunch and the old chap who took over has stored loads of the spuds in straw and packing boxes - interesting way of doing it I just used to sack them so i dont think we will be going short of spuds for a while - big bag next to me in library!!. I think he is quite happy and showed me his plans for next years planting there but he is a bit worried about the cost of the water so has put out extra drums for water and more guttering on his shed (my tin roof was ace for catching water) but I think he will have to rely heavily on his water meter.
Have to agree, keep pestering, I got very little joy on the telephone and went to the site last Monday and spoke to a couple of chaps, one of whom had 2 plots but was giving one up in April and then on Saturday I got offered the plot!!! Rent free until April 2006!!!
Collecting gate key tomorrow - will go and have a look and what needs doing, I think a shed willl be first job cos I ve got onions, garlic and broad beans already planted at home and unless the weather improoves digging will be out of the question.
Wow guess I will have to really start pestering - know the allocations office quite well now so will just pop in and say hi when passing a bit more i think - have also registered at another site in town - yes we have 2!!! but they are also full - have been down to see them down there and (dont know if good or bad :-\) but they all look lovely and are obviously being used - have decided as they are bigger to see if any of the older (sorry not being agest just helpful and honest) wants a partner in crime to do some lifting and carrying etc and then I can learn from them too.
Well done Delilah ;D ;D ;D I am really pleased there is very little that beats that feeling. ;D
You go girl!!
I wish you all the best wish your lottie, theres a lot of hard there!
Dan :-)
