Title: Great Olympians
Post by: Mr Smith on August 25, 2008, 17:57:02
What a great sight it was to see our Olympic team on the news tonight, but why does Sean Connery always have to come out of his coffin in the West Indies or the South of France and start to crow for a Scottish team in the next Olympics in 2012,  ;)

Any one know who the old blog was singing in London and why Myra Hindley.  I think I have lost the plot.  Can't wait for the Olympics here as maybe able to rent my house out for loads and loads of money.  Will live at the allotment, until they find me.

I've been out on the brew in cities all over the place, Ireland, N.Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Scotland as my work send me all over the place, and i've never failed to get a pint when i wanted one - this leads me to think its Londoners who lead a sheltered life.

Anyway, name a pub thats in the centre of London thats open past 10:30 on a sunday - if i ever go up there again the info would come in useful.  ;D

I actually enjoyed the Olympics this year.  I had no intention of following it but just got interested.  The Swimmers were good.  The wee lad in the Diving did really well for his age coming in 7th.  Sure he will get a medal at the next games.  The Cycling was exciting and as usual the racing in the water was excellent.  I didn't manage to see much gymnastics, I used to enjoy that.  I admired the Marathon Swim.  Boy, these swimmers have some stamina.  So shall look forward to 2012 in London and hope its not too extravagant.  I am sure the Brits will welcome everyone from all over the World in 2012.  I would like to see a GB Football team despite our stupid leader in Scotland saying otherwise.  Nothing but  nonsense comes out of that mans mouth.  Thank goodness Chris Hoy said the SNPs were talking rubbish.  So well done alla the Olympians who have returned from China with loads of medals.  Bet they don't booze very much.

:D

Some years ago, when I worked in the City, I'd come off night shift at 7:00 am and go for a pint around Smithfields.

Loads were open at that time in the morning as Smithfields market was just about finishing for the day and the traders would get a quick one in before bed.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching, as I always do. So many sports that don't normally get televised.

Watching Team GB do well just made it even better. Certainly a good haul of medals - it just goes to show that all the extra funding they've had since London got 2012 has made a big difference. Long may it continue.

I wonder if Mr Glitter enjoyed the Olympics, all those under aged girls in tight leotards  :-X

Yes, well done, but we must build on the great haul of China.

What has happened to our middle distance runners. Why have we not got replacements for Coe, Ovett, Bedford, Foster. Back in the late 70's and 80's Team GB were unbeatable, today we're lucky to qualify.

And as for the 4x100m relay team, one word - dreadfull.

I really enjoy the Olympics but it was made even better to watch with all our medal winners.  I completely agree with Brendan Foster's rant about the quality of most of our athletes - they are truly woeful. What have they been doing with all the funding they were given?  They either need to find fresh blood to train of find fresh trainers cos the old ones ain't working very well  :-X
