Do slugs feel pain ?
I just wondered as I cut a biggie in half with the secateurs.
Whilst the back half stopped moving, the mouth end kept moving. It even looked around to see its rear - or was that just its nerve endings making it move ?
hmmm...its a hard one....but i certainly feel pain when i come to a row of veg thats been decimated by the blighters...

I wrap my slugs in tissue and flush them down the toilet !
I like to think they are on thier way to a happy, rural sewage farm where they can bio degrade till thier hearts content.
Was a bit worried at first that they may somehow get out and up the pan ! , So far so good !!
What do you do with yours??
My way is jam jar with lid, salt in bottom and a old pair of cake tongs and pick them up and in they go.
They seem to curl up and go to sleep by morning just a sludge you can just add to it untill jar is full put lid on tightly and black bin.
You've all heard of "Rabbit Lamping", well I go "Slug Lamping". Armed with a good torch and a large pair of scissors I go out into the garden about 10.0pm, looking for slugs. When I find one it gets cut in half. I must have killed about a couple of hundred in the last 2 weeks.
I just can't kill them so I fling them as far as I can, then they have two chances, the birds dinner or a long slither home and the chance of a rerun. ;D

Me too! Liked the comment someone posted abt snails, tho...he takes them to the other side of the (busy) road, and if they make their way back - they can stay ;D

Spent a happy afternoon yesterday flinging slugs over the fence to next door (she is on holiday) on the grounds that she is not a gardener and will not care!
Salt works wonders too, and I figure birds may like their decomposing meals seasoned a little.

we now feed them all to the chickens, it's fantastic, they love them ;D
