What a lovely harvest Tim, they look delicious!
I unfortunately AM going away for a week :'( Took my non gardening sister up to the plot to show her what to water and when, what to pick etc. When we left she looked petrified!! :o I can see gigantic over ripe veg in my future! ;D DP

Tim your courgettes are much paler than mine, is that because it's a special variety? Your tomatoes look very nice, are they from a greenhouse or outdoors? Puts Sainsbury's to shame, I wanted to buy some beefsteak toms at the weekend and all of them were a pale insipid greeny orange colour, nowhere as red and bright as yours.

Doris - check out my marrow recipe!!

Jesse - yes - some of them are Genovese - I like the shape, colour & flavour. Very prolific too.
The toms are John Hawkins - sold by supermarkets as Jack Hawkins. Colour? You are bound to get 'in transit' colour? And  they will never ripen the same off the plant. = Tim

That's right, that's right, all compliment him on his gorgeous RED toms and his glossy cucumbers and courgettes....but just take a look at that cauliflower!  A beaut Tim, as ever, I am GREEN with envy!

I was actually trying to show the ones that got away through lack of attention - both cus & courgettes - not looking for medals!!

Starting earlier?  Ours, as said before, went into the cold 'house the first week in May - and suffered considerably from the cold. So you don't necessarily gain a lot. = Tim

Why doesn't one learn?

Turn your back and ................? And the weeds are almost as high as the plants. And the ground's too soggy to work.

They'll be out for sale in the village today for the Church funds. = Tim

Hahaha, not even for the church fund raising?
I noticed you left the flowers on, do you never have problems with the ends rotting? I guess it's o k as long as you harvest them young?

He is cute Ina.  What is his name?

Flowers, Ina? Only for the photo. Then off, wash & in the fridge!

Rot? The flowers 'rot' off when they are a bit bigger, but that is not like the squidgy rot that comes from poor fertilisation. = Tim

EJ, here they call them French courgettes.

Tim, I was told that if you leave the flowers on you run the chance of rotting the end of the courgette, not so?

Your guess is as good as mine, Ina!! Quite posssibly. But more likely to be poor pollination that induces it??

I find that the flowers usually fall off naturally when the things get beyond 'courgette' size. If I had the time to take them off in situ, I would have remembered to pick these before they became mini-marrows. Which I don't want!! = Tim
