Title: HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!
Post by: mpdjulie on August 21, 2008, 14:08:34
i normally post on edible plants but i have a problem with my lawn at home and as i usually get great advice off this website then i figured someone might know where i am going wrong.
I've mowed my lawn several times and it has always looked perfect everytime.  this morning i mowed it and it looks like the mower had hardly touched it but just flattened it in places.  the collector was barely picking up any cut grass instead just blowing out at the sides.  my lawn now looks crap.  it isn't a mower problem as i have checked it and it has been in my shed since i used it 3 weeks ago - i have been on holiday.  the grass was fairly damp from dew and crap weather. I'm hoping that this is the problem.
any ideas??

Hi MPDJULIE,
it may be the weather, and the grass being wet/damp, but you didn't say what type of mower you have, electric or petrol,

how short do you cut you lawn,  (petrol mower wheel setting 1very low or upto 6 being very high) i set mine on number 3  around 1" high (i use a petrol mower) but i'm not sure what setting is on an electric mower,

do you use a grass box to collect the clippings,

you may need the blade sharpening,

is the grass outlet port blocked forcing the grass to go under the side of the machine,

you may fine it will cut easier later to day when it dry's out a bit,

hope this helps,
windy
