Title: Wyevale's 50p seeds has begun!
Post by: OllieC on August 20, 2008, 12:09:50
I know, I know, this should be in "Bargains Galore"...and it is. But this section gets read more than that one!

The 50p sale started today & in my local branch they had some real bargains - things like Sungold (Pack price £2.99 for 10 seeds) and cucumber Cucine (pack price £3.99 for 4 seeds!!!). All at 50p!!

Plenty of flowers too, but they're not really my thing.

I spent £18.50 on £84 worth of seeds!!!

Wow that was some bargain Ollie!

I am 20 odd miles each way away - so hardly worth the petrol - in case they haven't got anything I want!

£84 worth of seeds, think you will need more than one allotment.  I will watch Homebase as it is nearer.  Good luck for next year.

I'm an idiot really - should've bought all the Sungold & Cucino to pass on on here. Will bag the rest if they're still there tomorrow...

MHT, I reckon at that price it's a great opportunity to give things a try a this time of year without worrying too much about failure! Also, the savings were huge on things like chillies which I think I mentioned last year were originally priced at over £3 for 6 seeds.

And there's all sorts, veg, flowers, fruit, herbs - actually seems quite random. I know many of the packets I bought last year had expiry dates of 2009-10 so it's not like it was old stock.

I'm having a day off work on Friday so guess where I'm heading at the crack of dawn? And as a bonus I'll be travelling in the opposite direction to the rush hour traffic!

Following Ollie's example, if anyone's after anything in particular, I'll be happy to add it to my own list. Let me know.
