i got my 2 chickens why only 2? hmmm well the person i had making the coop i told him i want it big enough for 4 or 5 birds well when he bought it round all the old guys at the allotment said your having a laff that is only big enough for 2 birds! grrrrrr £100 that cost me i was livid so any ways i got 2 birds they didnt start laying but they are pol so i was wondering how many days it normaly take for them to settle in n start laying? i was told by someone last night that they are hibird? what type is this lol
£100 for somebody to make you a coop large enough for 2 birds is ridiculous. For an £40-50 you could of bought one from a shop large enough to hold 5/6 ::) Can you get an extension built?
Liza, where did you buy your girls from? Didn't they tell you what breed they were? Don't be too disheartened, the old boys at the lotty aren't always right. Perhaps your house is high spec compared with some cheaper models and thats why the price was high. Be patient with them and they will lay when nature tells them to. Good luck with them.

is your roughly this size?
What size is your run?
What colour are your girls? hybrid is what they call hens that just lay and dont go broody IMHO. so should be good layers for you.
POL pullets lay about 20 weeks but could be sooner a week or so.
Watch out for the combs getting red its a good sign.
they should settle in in a week dont worry about the chaps on lottie, just smile and say yes they are most likly green with envy, will be around when you get your first eggs wanting freebies.
First eggs laid can be small dont worry they will get bigger.
most of all have fun and enjoy them.
this was the ebay page i gave to the man that made mine i said can you copy this but make it big enough for 4/5 birds i said if you can and do it cheaper ill go for it he said np he has copied it great but its soooo small http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Poultry-Hen-Chicken-house-ark-coop-Rabbit-Hutch-001_W0QQitemZ360077479267QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360077479267&_trkparms=72%3A1121%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&timeout=1218959083796
Well if it's not what you asked for could you not ask him to take it back and make it bigger?
Hi Liza, a hybrid bird is a cross between two pure breeds usualy, although you will find lots and lots that are Hienz 57's!, example is if you cross a rhode island red with a black rock you will get a blue belle.
Pol 's are about 18 weeks olsd and should start laying about 20-22 weeks old , make sure they have grit AND oyster shell , layers pellets and you should be cracking very shortly!
Just wait till you get your first egg! you will be so chuffed !!!
thanks for the info that makes sence ok so only a few weeks to wait for that first egg cant wait :)
