I had a visit from some Electricity Board employees yesterday saying that they needed to lop some of our trees as they were too close to the transformer. They said there would be no charge for the work.
I asked what they intended doing with the wood and they said they would bring along a shredder. I then asked what they would do with the wood chips and they said they could take them away or if I wanted, they could leave them for us to use on the garden.
I jumped at the opportunity of having them as I had just spent £20 on bags of woodchip for a new flower bed. They arrived today and after they had gone, I walked to the end of our paddock where I now have a lovely big pile of woodchips about 8ft square and three foot high. There were also many large branches/trunks which are suitable for logs and are now safely stacked away. We can't believe our luck. I think they may be back again tomorrow too as there are still some trees they haven't cut.
You lucky beast! ;D ;D ;D
