Title: Loadsa good friends.....some not so good.
Post by: Theplotthickens on August 11, 2008, 23:02:48
I have, thankfully, a good number of these little critters.......

....around 10 were counted in a patch 10x15 feet, so the slugs etc. should be down to a minimum. However there are Roe and as it`s an area that many humans pass in a day they aren`t put off by sight or smell of humans........or our 3ft fences  :-\
We also have a fox that visits too, but as there are rats about the burn we will treat him/her as a guest. The fox may also be instrumental at keeping the rabbits on a nearby(200m) golf course, well in check.

Who are your friends/foes on your allotment ??

Thankfully the deer and rabbits are the other side of our boundary wall!  Mostly foes for me - squirrels, rats, bloody wood pigeons, ring-neck parakeets, slugs, ants.

I'm sure we have frogs and toads but seldom seen and not enough of them.  The sparrowhawks are friends.

I'm neutral about the foxes and badgers.

I assume you are somewhere in London or South London re: the ring-neck parakeets, but what mischief do they get up to.

Lovely nails, mine are black.  Should wear gloves when gardening.

Bushy Park, S W London.  They seem to like fruit, particularly apples.
