Title: Comfrey
Post by: mellie on August 11, 2004, 15:08:57
How can I get rid of the Comfrey on my plot?
I have tried digging it up but it just keeps coming back. I have been told that the roots go down 2ft and if you leave just a little bit of root it comes back.
Please help I am at my wits end!!!! :(

mellie,
If it's in one place, then be glad you have a source of free plant feed. If it's all over the plot then clearly you do have a problem! I wouldn't waste your time digging, as you say, you'll never get all the root out. Have you tried spraying with Roundup?

P.S. If it's the Bocking 14 variety, please send me some!

Spray it wth roundup or glyphoshate..
It kills roots as well but doesn't affect the soil .
Will take about 3 weeks after spraying for it to die completely..but it will be gone for good...Jim..

I also heard that if you tear the leaves off & leave them near plants you don`t want slugs to eat they fill up on the comfrey leaves till their bellies are all stuffed so don`t want your lovely tender shoots. Don`t know if it works but mite be good to give it a go.
