False economy  to go for the cheaper models, most are not A rated. Pay a bit more and get the A rated one. Stuff the global warming claptrap, but they are cheaper to run.

Don't know what size you're looking for but mine is a Hinari Lifestyle tabletop and it's been fabulous.  Bought it a year ago for £99.99 and it's been great for me and the two kids.

Built-in ones (so it's hidden in the kitchen units) are more expensive than free=standing ones

We've had 6 trouble free years so far from our cheap & cheerless Bosch. I bought it because of the lack of buttons & the low cost... same reason as the washing machine! It replaced the fitted Neff. Think it was about £225.

Oh, and it's got a AAA rating...

With a machine thats A rated - does this mean three A's ? one for Energy Rating, one for Cleaning Performance and one for Drying Performance ??  Or are the latter mearly sales things and its only the Energy Rating that matters...?

There's loads in Argos, and quite cheap too - but i'll get slated by the shed gang if i buy one from them... ;)

Bosch for me too, even though I have only had a dishwasher 2 months.

My Bosch appliances fridge/freezer; dishwasher; washing machine and dryer are all 7 years old. It was probably very bad luck to say that especially since I've said it twice today but at least we've got our money's worth from them particularly since the washing machine and fridge/F where replaced by the mover's insurance after they broke the others!
I would buy another Bosch...in fact already have...a bosch oven!

I used to be an appliance engineer and hated all dishwashers! - they are the most awkward nightmarish machines to repair!

Anyhow, just to say I often found it pot luck. Sometimes you get a dud one off the line and sometimes you have a cheap one that lasts forever - you takes your chance I guess, but at the same time - you usually get what you pay for. Neff and Bosch both usually good - in the past, I've usually stuck with Hotpoint or Hoover - not that they out perform other machines, but just that historicaly, they're usually cheaper (and easier) to repair ::)

I have recently brought this model BOSCH SGS43T72UK
http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/406058/BOSCH-SGS43T72UK

I had an all singing all dancing Indesit before and most of the programmes didn't get used so went for this one. Its been very impressive. Simplier than the Indesit so less to go wrong.

We have a Bosch dishwasher which replaced our old Indesit.  We also have a Bosch washing machine which is ten years old.  When they pack up I will definitely buy Bosch again.

I wouldn't buy from Comet though......bought a faulty TV from them once and they wouldn't replace it despite two seperate engineers sent to look at it agreed it had a major fault argued for 6 months finally we insisted they collect it and give our money back or we'd go to court so they reluctantly paid us. Bought a slightly newer model cheaper at Sainsbury's, never been inside a Comet store since.

My Bosch dishwasher has 4 programmes too, I only use 2 ecowash and quickwash.

That looks like the Bosh we have sillybilly.

Whilst it does a very good job, the bit I don't like about it is it is either 'active' or 'end'.

The Bosch we had previously showed what stage the washing process was at, ie washing, rinsing or drying, so you knew roughly how much longer the programme was going to take.  With this, once you switch on the programme, you have no idea when it will be finished, unless you set a stop-watch.  But it's preferable to standing at the sink with my Marigolds on. ;D ;D

Got to be the best thing since gardening was invented - you can stuff things in it and the kitchen looks tidy - and then it even goes on to wash them for you ;D ;D ;D

Mind you we have discussions about how to stack it - my beloved partner likes to run it absolutely packed full. Then of course it struggles to wash small dishes inside bowls inside saucepans! But being a man its not really possible to argue that I know best how to do it ;)

Right Bosch one on the way...

Plumbing advice now.... what do i need to connect to the sink waste pipe. The hot and cold water supplies are there as there used to be a washing machine it the place were the dishwashers going - but the tennat before us took it out and put in a cupboard. The waste pipe must have been changed then..

Probably a silly question, but does it matter that the waste pipe goes outside about 12" above floor level - does the dishwasher pump the water out ?

Most are cold fill only. The waste can be cut and an anti syphonic fitment glued in to conect the hose from the washer. if you are near the sink sometimes there are junctions near the bottle trap to connect appliances.

My Bosch stopped working about 2 years ago we had to call out an engineer and it turned out it hadn't been installed properly and a hose had almost come off causing an emergency cut off to operate...it cost a callout fee for that but it was nice to know there was a fail safe in place. So install carefully according to the instructions. John lewis installed ours.

keef, any decent supplier will quote you a price 'installed', so you don't need to worry yourself about plumbing,  They will do it for you.

I agree with ACE dishwashers these days are cold-fill only (as are washing machines).

Most charge an extra £10.... or put that much on the price and say installation is free...

I think when they mean install they mean remove your old one and install a new one - however the plumbing needs to be altered a bit, and the cupboard needs to come out, and the eleccy supply needs sorting out...So long as they get it up the stairs ;D - thats all i'm bothered about, i'll do the rest...
