Post by: Duke Ellington on August 11, 2008, 09:57:38
Do you have to keep brussel sprouts netted through the winter months? I get so confused about netting etc......

It varies from place to place, but where I am, winter is the time when the vegetarian vultures descend.

Sorry to steal your thread, but,
I have brussles in now, and they are about 18 inches tall (at a guess) I was just wondering, I seem to remember reading last year about "pinching out"? Is this right? and what exactly do I need to pinch out?
Thanx

Thanks Mr Brenchley...we have loads of pidgeons so I think it will be best to net them!
Jesslands ~I found this site this morning and thought it answered quite a few of my brussel sprout questions.

I do not net mine.  Bare in mind the birds wil be looking for food and have less to choose apart from your greens.... I have been lucky I guess.
