I'm growing Heliotrope Hybrid Marine for the first time this year. The flowers smell fabulous but for the life of me I can't place the scent. What do they smell like to you?

PS The closest I can get is parma violets!
Cherry bubblegum?
Er...I said I like the smell! ;)

To me they smell like Sour Cherry sweets (showing me age, do they still exist?) ???
Have no idea what the plant is but you can still get sour cherry sweets.
Cherry-pie filling?
:-\
The common name for the plant is Cherry pie from the smell of the flowers rather than the colour of the flowers.
Yes, Deb, you can still get those sweets, saw them at Esso Garage in Leek..! Will bring you a packet when i am back at work!!!

Yes Eric, I was aware of that but to me the flowers smell nothing like Cherries! ::)

Georgie, have you ever bothered to go beyond 'wonderful'. It has the most beautiful scent, but I certainly couldn't put a name to it.

Turkish Delight?
Now that's not as daft as it sounds. ;) ;D

It was when you mentioned parma violets (the sweets), which I reckon have quite a 'perfumey' taste, I tried to think of something with a similar type of whiff.

When I was a lass gals who liked bubblegum were considered to be 'fast'. ;) Race you round the house tomorrow? ;D

I'm not that fast, but I can get a bit Wrigley
