when do people start harvesting thier onions?
has anyone started yet?

You can always lift them and leave to dry in a greenhouse for a day or two if the weather does change.

when people lift them how long do u leavethem outside for?

Usually when they are ready to harvest, the necks go soft and the stems flop over

2-3 days.  Sometimes a little longer.  Just enough for them to harden up.  When they are first harvested, they can seem a touch soft.  If stored soft - they will rot.  Shake of all excess soil before leaving to dry.  You will be able to feel the difference after a couple of days.   ;)

I leave mine for a week or two depending on how the weather has been. I suspect finishing off the drying (after a few days of sun) in a cool dry spot might be a better approach  :)

Mine have all mine eaten, especially the red ones.
