Carrot Nantes Frubund (Fast Crop)
The sowing date for these carrots for spring is approaching. I'm assuming the earlier I sow them, the sooner they will be ready in spring, but dont know about any pitfals.
On average if I sow them in August they will be full size in which month?
Sept? Oct?
Will small carrots in spring grow into better tasting carrots than big spring carrots?
carrot fly, surges in certain months.
If you plant carrots too early, then, you could get fly in them. Plant a little later and the danger is gone.
So, if you plant sooner, cover with fleece.
My view about carrots and taste is that they should be no more than 5 inches long. Longer than that the flavour starts to dilute into the bigger form.
Don't know about yours, but my Early Nantes sown 29/7 are just pulling now.

The clue for when these carrots will be ready is in the word SPRING

Until what months can these be sown? How big do they grow? Do they last over winter as well as summer?
CARROT NANTES FRUBUND
Highly commended by the Royal Horticultural Society, UK. It is the first genuine autumn sowing carrot, exceptionally early and cold resistant. It will give you carrots in your garden in the spring when nobody else has them and when they are fetching high prices in the shops. A very important autumn sowing vegetable breakthrough.
