Hi jb,
Yes, grew it once in a spring run off that existed beside one of my plots many years ago.
Needs fresh water, flowing, to be successful. Failed after a while. Spring dried up - as they do!

I'm doing it in a plastic washing up bowl.  I bought some fresh watercress that still had some roots on and planted them in the bowl - put about an inch of sieved soil in the bottom and filed it with water.  They grew away very quickly and I cropped some but then they went to seed.  So I let them set seed into the water and the second lot is now at the seedling stage.

I grew some from seed in a 12" pot of compost stood in a saucer of water,  changing the water daily.  It was very successful.   :)

I bought a bag of organic stuff from Waitrose.  I can't remember the name of the brand but it wasn't their own.  I think it was less than a pound.

I can let you have some seeds if you want to try it that way too.  I saved some when it went to seed.
