Title: Have You Ever Made A...?
Post by: Lauren S on July 31, 2008, 11:30:27
I need some help and advice on how to make a garland for out side

It's our local Carnival 9th - 16th and I want to make a garland for outside my son's shop.
My friend Rose will be helping me, and we have been collecting artificial flowers and decorative bits for a while now. We will also be using real foliage and fresh flowers too.

What I need help with is...

If you have ever made one...(i.e for a wedding, party or Christmas) how did you create the base using wet oasis.

I was thinking of *threading* the oasis on thick wire first.

All suggestions greatfully received

Lauren  :)

That sounds like a lot of faffing about. Why not just use a bit of rope and tie the flowers/foliage to it?

I was afraid that the fresh flowers would die too quickly  ::)

Lauren when I used to do Christmas garlands I attached the greenery to a wire or rope or string. Fresh flowers could then be put into those tubes the florists use for individual stems, that are filled with water and then attached?
Or.............as per the lynch gate of our local church the other day, which looked fab, plank of wood, oasis attached to wood with chicken wire....it looked VERY impressive, wish I had taken a picture! ;D
