Title: gardening when 180 years old
Post by: pigeonseed on July 30, 2008, 20:09:27
Being almost 8 months pregnant I feel about 180 years old whenever I try and garden in the hot sunshine.

So today I was proud of myself - while my 2-year-old was napping I drilled holes in two old wooden drawers that someone was throwing out, and sowed oriental mixed leaves and some radish.

Doesn't sound like much now I've written it down, but I felt quite pleased anyway - it's so hard seeing the summer going past and not doing much gardening.

don't worry, you'll soon be able to see your toes again, our orientals are doing fine in a wine crate  ;D

Thanks for sympathy!!

Last time I was pregnant, my allotment got really unruly - there was a drought and a hosepipe ban, that was a disaster!

So this time, maybe it's good I'm still on the allotment waiting list in my new home. I can potter with pots outside the house.

Well done to you..and well done again.in this heat and 8 months pregnant..sweetie when I was 8 months preganant I was  lucky to  get to wash leaves and radish let alone make beds for them. You desrve a "blooming " medal.

Just think while you are bringing that wee one into this world those radishes will just be about ready too!!

My hat is off to you, it is a huge accomplishment.

oh god that's a really scary thought!

I was just thinking about eating radishes in salad. I tend to forget the reality of the baby arriving in few weeks as well!

You're working on something a lot more important than gardening. Take care of yourself and baby-to-be including staying out of the heat and no heavy lifting. We'll look forward to seeing some pictures soon and not of any ol' radish.

Thanks for all the encouragement - I'll be sure not to confuse the two products when I post photos, although both will be round and red. One will make a lot more noise.
