Got my first "boiling" of beans this morning.

This is the longest.

Let me guess are they are a variety named  'Liberty' ?

The best way to test is to  break one in half and if it snaps cleanly it is just right, if they don't and you get a long stringy bit, then you have left them too long on the plant.

Nice size!!

The long bean does not have a name....unless you want to call it John Brown. He's the chap who gave me the seed.He developed the strain over the years from when he used to show.

My beans are never left on too long.I like them young and tender, not thick and stringy.

Two things I hate and thats stringy beans and lumpy mashed potato!!
