We'll never know what was going to happen next - they all weigh about half of what they did in that photo now...

For some reason I think they're a sawfly? And now I know why they stick their arses in the air - they couldn't all fit on the same leaf otherwise!!!

amazing pic - if you turn it a quarter turn to the left it looks like a blowfish  ;D

but I think sawfly larvae are black

I googled it - definitely sawfly lavae.  Quite quite disgusting.  Poor rose bush  :'( :'( :'(

Those are rose sawfly larvae. Keep knocking them off, they'll soon vanish.

had no idea there were so many different varieties of sawfly - not nice  looking creatures are they  :o
