Title: What makes aubergine flowers fall off?
Post by: caroline7758 on July 20, 2008, 18:29:18
The first flowers on two plants in my greenhouse have rotted off without forming fruit. :(

 Poor pollination? ???

I had a bout of this happening last year, I left the greenhouse doors open all the time and the situation improved. Also regular watering, I think mine are suffering at the lottie this year as I can't get down as much due to stupid short shifts at work......now back on 12 hour shifts so it should improve! ;D

Had this happen to my pepper plants.

Seems it was due to lack of ventilation and air circulation.  Mildew was the main cause.

Might try putting them outside for a bit later this week if the promised better weather materialises. And I've used a paintbrush on the other flowers to encourage pollination.

I never have that problem with the climate here, it must have something to do with the heat.

May be more to do with the humidity?

I usually place containers of water under the plants for that, not bothered this year, and still getting loads of fruits.
