Title: Green Peppers
Post by: Doris_Pinks on August 08, 2004, 11:10:05
Just done my one of my daily inspections of the greenhouse, and have found 3 of my peppers that look great on the side I can see, but the backs of them are all soft and funny coloured, just threw them on the compost in disgust...........should have taken a piccie!  Any ideas anyone?  DP

It's a b, isn't it?
Very common - probably grey mould.  Pick all bad bits off & keep well ventilated. Even thin out lower foliage. Last resort, Carbendazim. = Tim

Thank you Tim, will have to go down and inspect the rest! Wondered if it was a ventilation prob.

If something starts to ripen before you think it should - DOUBLE check it - it's usually on its way out!!

And ventilation is not a panacea. = Tim

Is grey mould anything like mildew? If it is, spraying with a 10% milk/water solution may help. It does work on cucumbers and related plants such as courgette.

Much more vicious - but I must remember the milk thing for mildew. I'm doing bicarb at present. = Tim
