I just wanted to post becuase july harvests are wonderful and remind me why we go to all that trouble in the depths of winter shoveling muck and weeding constantly
All this weekend ive had some totally yummy salad lunches with my own salad leaves yummy salad onions boiled new potaoes raspberries and strawberries all from the plot.
Its wonderful and it makes it all worth while.
What have you guys been eating from the plot this weekend?

Having soft fruit compotes and yoghurt for breakfast, salad lunches including bean salads, and generally grilled fish, meat or pasta with salad or veg in the evening.
Harvesting at the moment:
Beetroot
Broad beans
Calabrese
Carrots
Spinach
Red orache
Lettuces (Cos, Iceberg and cut & come types)
Rocket
Blackcurrants
Red currants
Gooseberries
Rhubarb (very last of this though, need to rest the plants)
Onions, Shallots and garlic (drying and getting ready to store)
Last night did a caramelised onion and goats cheese tart which we had with salad (incl thinly sliced baby courgette) and beetroot.
And not at the peak of harvest yet!

I forgot to mention all the greenshaft peas which go really well in salads and stirfries and of course snacks all day on the plot when strolling by!
Peas, broad beans, potatoes, lettuce, chicory, runner beans, carrotts, spinach, onions. Oh and plenty of weeds !!! ;D
I cant wait for my sweetcorn. mmmmmm.
I only got my plot end of Feb and this is the 1st time in my life I have ever grown anything. I bloomin' love it.

just brought home
lettuce, red mustard, mizuna, spring onions, cucumber and tomato, first time we've had them all together (notice tomato, only 1 red ;D ),
cabbage, calabrese, carrots, peas, french and runner beans, onions to store, a squash I caught with the truck so will have to see how well it stores,
tayberries, red currants, raspberries and the last of the strawberries..I love this time of year ;D
I get so proud when i bring things home in my basket ready to eat. I too have had a bumper year. I think this is a real boost as we all had such a rotten year last year (though i seemed to do better than most on my allotment last year for some unknown reason).
Anyway, isn't allotmnet gardening fab!

Makes it all worth the hard work doesn't it. My chest freezer is packed full already. We are just about gonna manage to finish last years blackberries before the new lot start. I make them into a sauce (pipless) and have them with bananas and yoghurt. ooooooooooooooooh
Only got my plot in April but have had the following so far:-
Radish
Rocket
Beetroot
Lettuce - Webs and Lollo Rosso
Potatoes
Awaiting more spuds, onions, swede, strawberries, carrots and lots of seed in
im really impressed first year with allotment and have 6 cauliflowers coming i can see the curds im soooooo excited lol
Bucket loads of potatoes.

Raspberries (just starting)
