Any A 4 A members got a plot in G.Y. or Gorleston?
I dont think theres many of us tony :( me, you and ivorjen thats about it i think.
I'd better get some posters up on the gates, then!! ;)
Just posted on the "where is your Allotment site". My dad and I are on the site off Western Road (we're usually with the Collie).
Does anyone know when committee meetings are held? I naively thought we'd be notified of any meetings but to date (other than the AGM meeting last year) we have heard nothing.
I have a plot on Freemantle Rd I back on to the racecourse good on race days
you dont get much work done though ;D
PS there is a web address on all our gates for allotments4all.
I keep putting the A4A web address on the gates, someone keeps removing them!! Please spread the word! thanks, Tony ;)
;D Hi Tonybloke,
I'm on crab Lane as you now I'll spread the A 4 A word the sign was still on the gate yesterday.
I reckon that the only reason the signs are being taken down is that someone doesn't like the idea that people may start talking to each other. I FIND THAT A BIT SAD. The allotment site you are on should be a community that usually means talking to each other.
Communication brings out the best in a group and I believe we all deserve the best.
We have a couple of allotmentiers from my neck of the woods on this site which is LE13 but they don't seem to like to make contact with folk that don't have web feet :)
AGM to be held on 29th August 7.30.p.m. Kings Centre, Queen Annes Road (nr simpsons/vets) rgds, Tony ;)
they are on the gate at our allotment. for now.
Anyone know who we contact to get copies of the agenda for this meeting and the notes of last years meeting? I'm asking as I am sure that our site secretary will not pass this information on.
I'll also post a notice up on our site with the date, time and place of the AGM.
Cheers.
the agenda should be displayed on your site?I'll post an image of our message.
rgds, tony

The AGM was a a bit of a shock I think for a few!
Very good turnout but I have seen better organised meetings in my son's school run by students
(he is Seven & at John Grants Special School)
I cannot agree with the way the treasurer was slipped back into his treasury position without the option for an alternative, when the ballot paper said the vote was for secretary/treasurer I would assume that the people who voted, voted the current treasurer out as he lost the ballot!
Well done Tonybloke for getting on the committee!
Perhaps things will change
My father and I left after about an hour - I was the one who spoke to the top table before I left. I made the point that it would be impossible to agree the minutes of this AGM as we couldn't hear what was going on and there would therefore be arguments over what was actually raised and agreed. I also suggested that future meetings were more structured and controlled with people having access to roving microphones so that we could all hear the comments being raised.
What was the point of asking people to vote for a treasurer/secretary if they just ignored the majority view??
the vote was for secretary/treasurer but the winner had already said she only wanted the secretary part not the treasure so the ballot should have been for secretary only & the treasure should have been advertised to the rest of the voters & another ballot.
But all said we have some new members on the committee now so all is looking brighter for the future
I will see what the future holds
the meeting reflected their management skills admirably! In the future meetings will be well structured, informative, democratic and a bit more enjoyable.
Thanks to everybody for turning up, and especially those who voted me on to the committee!
rgds, Tony
Yes it was a laugh, seeing how they done the meeting. Shame he still the treasurer! was true what the man said about the cheque book tho, needing Two signatures.
tony can you remember who got voted for crablane?
Again congratulations Tony.
Ronnie Huggins and Ray Johnson got elected for crab lane site. Thanks for your support, mate!
so ronnie is secertary and ray on commity?
ron is site secretary, and they are both on the management committee.
Attended the meeting last night, couldn't quite believe what happened. I can't say I have never seen anything like it because I was at the last fiasco at the race course. How did they manage to push the treasurer through? It was obviously prearranged as they knew the lady did not want this post in advance and hadn't publicised the position to get nominees. They had no right to put somebody in there and then, they should have had another meeting and put it on the agenda for a democratic vote.
I was also disgusted at the way the young lady from Cobholm was treated by the meeting's Chairman. After waiting patiently to make her point he rudely ignored her and started speaking to someone on the other side of the room. When she approached the platform, understandably annoyed at his reaction, he proceeded to shout at her.
I'm on my soapbox now.
So why are we giving someone £1000 !!!!!!!!. I should be so lucky. What happened to the days of retirement clocks, or even a new spade. The people in Cobholm haven't even got a water pipe and we're giving away £1000, I hasten to add my allotment is not in Cobholm.
Despite all that Congratulations Tony, it's time to do your stuff!
Hi
I'm on Long Lane ** whispers **
I couldn't attend the meeting, as I thought it was in Gt Yarmouth, and I was at a function in Gorleston at the time.
Tony says it was, um, an experience.
I had an allotment in Lowestoft for several years. Our site rep was very good, and meetings were always properly run with Agendas, Timed questions (so people don't go off topic) etc.
Personally, I don't want to get involved with site politics at the moment ... not enough time or energy. Maybe next year, after I've dug out all me blummin brambles.
I saw a poster on an allotment gate this morning while walking my dog, on suffolk road near simpsons, thought i'd have a look, gald i did now ;D
Are there any allotments near Gt Yarmouth Stn or Vauxhall Holiday park as I will be up there on the 26th and 27th. ;D ;D ;D
hi is there anybody who has an allotment at the back of tesco near the scrap yard as i have

is anyone on the waiting list for an allotment at the back of tesco in cobholm (P.S I am not "mac")

hello vegieguy, are you wishing to be put on the waiting list for a plot?
now 6th on the list ::)
which list? we have 14 sites, which one (s) lists are you on?
bradwell

it very close to our house and we have no car so we are willing to wait!
but cant so keen to have ago cant wait!
that site is run by the bradwell parish council, it is not one of our sites. ;)
Could someone tell me when and where the next allotment meeting is i have a double plot on the western road allotments and would like to get more involved!!
Thank You
We are having a secretaries meeting on monday evening, and a management committee meeting on tuesday evening. Do you have a site committee? (mary morgan is your site secretary and also your management representative)
rgds, Tony, (gen sec)
Are these meetings open to all or just the site secretaries?
These are meetings for just secretaries on monday, and just committee members on tuesday. how long have you had your plots on western rd? did you attend the AGM?
do you have a site committee on that site? is mary elected as secretary /committee member by your site plot-holders?
sorry for all the questions!!! ;)
well the guy who's name the allotment is in has had it a few years i just run it cos his health doesn't allow him to do too much. And yes she is the elected secretary and i have not attended any meetings I've only just become aware that there are meetings and because i am the main person who works on our plot thought it would be a good idea to get involved.
If i cant go to these meetings how can i make it so that i can?
Thank You!
Also are you able to keep chickens on the plot that i am on (western road)?
Thank You
Only plot-holders can be elected to any positions in our association. As you are not even the registered plot-holder you cannot have a say in the running of the association.I'll see mary tonight, and make some enquiries on your behalf.
rgds, Tony
Is it possible for me to be added as a registered plot holder if the current plot holder approves it?
ThankYou
P.S sorry for all the questions i'm rather passionate lol
you need to have a word with Mary Morgan, site secretary about that. ;)
hi i,ve only been on freemantle site for 6 months or so, but can someone please tell me why People can have chickens, but only come down only once a week to feed them, the other day we had a hard frost and all their water was frozen for 3 days and there was no food in their hut (there is a knot hole in the shed to look into see if the feed hopper is full ) or enclosure. i know the RSPCA have been informed but nothing seems to be happening, HOW long do we put up with seeing these birds suffer
have you had a word with Arthur Nichols or John Howard? (secretary and committee member)
I'll give them a bell in the morning
thanks once again for your fast reply and we are all counting down the days to 01/01/2010 will he or wont he obay ???????

Well, our association has agreed at a Special General Meeting to adopt a new set of rules of association. Thanks to Both Bryn Pugh from NSALG and Philip Hoste-Davies from NorSalg for attending.

I love it when Tone is all rough and ready. ;)

We have just acquired a plot on Tar Works Road East. Busy digging out couch grass roots and doing runs to the tip with rubbish and lots of roots. Have so far managed to get a few rows of early potatoes in. Now working on weeding a brassica bed and carrot bed.
