Title: My Poorly Gini
Post by: Brogusblue on July 14, 2008, 09:28:05
Hello

My gini a lab/staff cross has been very poorly, in the being of june she started to drink and wee alot so we took her to the vets and she has cystitis and uterus infection so first lot of tablets seem to be doing the trick, next visit 10 days later and it hasn't cleared up so another lot of tablets a 2 week course this when the problems started she won't eat she was losing weight and looking very ill and poorly so the vet asked us to stop the tablets and see what happens slowly she be can to eat again and sill very thin and weak, so i took her the vets again on saturday 19th july as she still wasn't right after a few tests we found out that the second lot of tablets contained penicillin to clear the infection but a bit of detective work the vet said she must be penicillin intolerant so we are now on new tablets and so far so good she is alot more alert today, she has to go to the vets again on saturday or early next week for a breast screen to check for breast cancer, So it's a case of feeding her up and getting her muscle mass back up when she first went to the vets she was 13.75kg yesterday 9.75kg a lost of 4 kg that's a lot, But she seems happy in herself. So hopefully she make a slow recovery.

Cheers

How awful for her to feel so rotten, and be allergic to the medication. I will be thinking of you and Gini next week. I too hope she continues to gain strength and spirit.

Hello

Sad news Gini passed away at 11am this morning, 02/06/1997 - 28/07/08, I was hoping that she would recover but all  the infections and the latest news that she had cancer was too much,,, she will be dearly missed and was my pride and joy, I am just hoping that Mr B my other dog will cope he is laying next to her and whining he has given her a big wash, My nephew (Mr Fuchsia Nut) is laying her next to my rose bed as this was her favourite place in the garden.

Cheers

She was clearly very much loved and had a wonderful life.  You can be grateful to each other for happier times spent.

Still deeply sad.

Hello

Thanks for reply's, Mr B my other dog is missing gini badly every morning and evening he goes in the garden and say's good morning or goodnight by her grave.

on tuesday me and nephew (Mr Fuchsia Nut) went shopping and poped into our local farm shop and they sell plants how spooky the last rose left was "In loving Memory"... so of course being a rose person i purchased it and is now sitting on gini's grave.

This is first time i have had to put a dog to sleep and i hated it sounds silly i feel guilty and also i didn't realise now much it's affected me when i goto bed gini used to cuddle me and now shes gone it takes me ages to go to sleep last few nights i have cried myself to sleep.  :'( :'(

Cheers
