In spite of the vandalism our site has been awarded the certificate for the most improved allotment site in Birmingham by the BDAS. We have gone from 10 plotholders to 80 in 2 years.
That's wonderful! You deserve it, if for no other reason than not letting the vandals win. Well done to everyone! So what's next????!!!
Great news Shirl Congratulations are in order :) As Ceres has said you haven't let the vandals win
good for you!! ;)
Excellent news. Well done. :)

Just popping out now, down to the Most Improved Allotments in Birmingham, now that the inspectors have gone I can uncover all of my old carpet and the pile of junk at the end of my plot.. ;D
Any way, it's nice to win something, givies you a bit of prode in the site (even if the achievement is mostly down to others) and the incentive to try and keep things tidy.
congratulations to you all, ;D
Well done, a real success story!
Smashing !! XX Jeannine
Great news, you must be thrilled - well done!
Brilliant, Im really happy for you all ;D
Thankyou so much for all of the encouragement. I have posted a couple of pics of how the site of the project looked before we started.(some of you will remember the pic from 18 months ago when Tone was looking at the derelict shed in the brambles for our Bunjy)
WOW !!!!!!!
Crickey, I can see your heart and soul went into that project shirlton. Very impressive. Great pics.
Yep Shirl I remember that pic of Tone, I think a few of us wondered if he would ever be seen again ;D Great pics, thanks for sharing.
wow, you've all done a brilliant job ;D
Impressive!! ;D ;D
Beautiful ;D
congratulations!!! You should all be really pleased with yourselves. It is hard work but you have proved that it is worth it.
Well done and what a great job done Shirl, and hows Tone getting on. ;D ;D ;D
Don't go down that road Kev. Put it this way between him and me mom I feel like bluddy Florence Nightingale
I couldn't send you some ironing over Shirl could I, only theres a pile of it needs doing. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :-*
Do you wish me to be straight forward or to beat about the bush Kev :P
Can I ask how you got the award, did you have to notify the council etc.
I thought of trying to get a local award for Sutton Allotments??
Thanks, Mick

The competition is on every year. We are advised about it in the allotment news letter that is sent to the site secretary. You then have to request the forms to submit the entries. I think the BDAS is responsible for the Birmingham event and the prizes and certificates are awarded at the Kings Heath show at the end of August. Try contacting your local council. I take it that you are in Sutton, (surrey) and not the Sutton in Birmingham otherwise you would have been informed of the event
heya shirl, thought it odd i hadnt seen u n urs this am, but then maybe you knew about the rain.... we got caught a few too many times and are mighty glad to be home! wont be joining u guys at the bbq either, it may be birminghams most improved but that didnt include the weather!!!! ps the pics dont do it justice in my opinion, it looks far better when youre actually there!!! weve dropped some huge iris plants off to go in the pond, by huge i mean 5ft tall..... but anyhow, congrats shirln is what i was getting to, lol, you tone jules and the others have done a fab job and the kids love visiting it :) ho hum guess i dont need to be doing any watering this week again!!! yucky weather!!
The is no such thing as bad weather - just bad clothing choices.
;D
You should have gotten them to move the BBQ tent down to your plot Lou.
Anyhoo, I'm going to have to miss it too :( as we are off to the threatre.
Just thought Shirl maybe Ace would lend you his little bell, would save Tone or Mum shouting for their nurse ;D
;D ;D ;D
I fixed the weather for the BBQ. The rain stopped as soon as we got there. Tone and I only stayed a short while to fry the onions for them and then had to get back to me mom. It was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves.
