Title: Softneck or hardneck?

May seem a silly question, but how do I know whethermy garlic is softneck or hardnecK? It feels soft above the bulb- is it as simple as that? ???

Thanks, that's useful too. You did get bad rust, didn't you! I dug mine up when the rust was at the stage of your next-to-last picture.

My garlic is covered in rust too is this common - can it affect the bulbs?
