clover will grow and out-compete grass in a nitrogen deficient soil, if you pee (first in the morning is best!) into a watering can, then fill with water, with rose attached water your lawn!! Honest!! ;)

this is best carried out EARLY in the morning!, not onto a parched lawn, though!!

I bought clover seed and sprinkled it all over my lawn...it's now growing well and the bee's love it. The neighbour doesn't though as someone tried to kill it last year when I was away! That's really funny though because he bought the Westland? lawn seed with microclover in it which costs more than the ordinary lawn seed and reseeded his lawn with it...I was quite surprised to see clover with small leaves growing on his lawn till I saw him amking a second application! He obviously didn't read the label.

Clover has a lot of benefits to add to you lawn..the rhizobium bacteria found in nodules on the roots fix nitrogen which improves fertility of the soil; it stays green in a drought; the bees love the flowers.....makes great honey.

Eventually as the soil fertility increases you get a better more even relationship between grass and clover which will grow together.

Clovertox is only legally available to people with a pesticide licence, it can be bought from places specialising in amenity turf supplies.
Don't think it will be available to buy at all after November 2008 though,
