Title: An update on my garden allotment (pics attached)

Hi everyone,

Haven't given an update on whats going on with my veggie plot so here it is along with some images.

Recently built a fence around the plot which will make it easier to net some of the sections and also makes it safer for my daughter, when she can start walking. Don't want her running into the greenhouse.

Things are growing quite well this year, but still have a major problem with mangold fly on the beetroot.

Some Runner Beans have set (first year of growing them)

Broad Beans are now growing well, but I don't think we like the taste, seem a tad bitter, but would be good in soup.

Lifted on Kestrel potato, just to check for size but will be leaving them till the end of August. Look good though, nice colour on the eyes.

Swedes growing strong, even though they took a bit longer to get started, may be due to old seed.

Leeks are doing excellent and this year I used toilet rolls to protect them and they have grown much better that the one I left exposed.

Little Gem lettuce also doing well.

Trying to maximise the space in my garden I built another raised bed next to my home observatory and sown some more Little Gems.

Peas doing extremely well and eating the fresh out the pod for dinner is the best.

Greenhouse tomatoes all setting well and we have had two ripe Sungolds.

Peppers looking good as well.

The pot grown potatoes (Rocket, Maris Pier, Desiree & Arron Pilot) have been amazing!!!

Really good sizes and hundreds of potatoes lifted.  It has been well worth the effort to grow in pots and this has also extended the amount of crop I can grow.

Well I think that will do just now.

See you all around,

Excellent work - making use of every spare bit of ground-with great results.

My thought as well. A beautifully kept garden which I can never achieve and wonderful crop of potatoes!

Thanks everyone,

I have tried to keep on top of the weeds as much as possible.  Difficult when you have a tendicy for neatness and so far I have removed all weeds possible!  ;)

Looking mighty fine there.   Somehow I just don't see my OH looking after my plot so well in my abscence.  Wonder what i will return to..... the mind boggles.... ::)
