Beautiful girlies, Lorna. Is that ballroom they are doing? How did the comp go?

Hi Maggie, I should have typed 1st pic Jessica on the right!!  Yes it is ballroom.
Was their first competition unfortunately they didn't get placed but main thing is they thoroughly enjoyed it. Jessica takes her dancing very seriously but little sister Bethany is more inclined to treat it as just fun :)

My two wouldn't know a waltz if it jumped up and bit them  ::). We've always loved dancing and had good fun at Ladies nights, but they have never wanted to learn-(except the jive.) Such a shame.

Lovely girls Lorna.  I am sure they will enjoy their dancing.  I took Highland Dancing lessons at their age.  I still remember the steps as well.  Put down a couple of swords and will dance round them   ;D ;D

Thank you Carol. Have no idea where the girls got their desire to do ballroom dancing from the most any of my family can  do is perhaps a waltz!!  They have lessons every week. I am going to try and go to their next competition, the last one was in Leicester. Hope they keep it up.

Nice girls Lorna, Hope they grow up in a trouble free World.
Have you found like me that Grandchildren seem to cost you more than your own children did?  ;D  ;D

Hi Richard,  Now I have 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren  I have to keep to some sort of budget but whatever I give them they are well worth it ;D
My Great Granddaughter (Chloe-Anne) was here today with Granddad and Nan she found my big whiskey bottle that I throw all coppers and 5p pieces in, we tipped some out on the carpet she had great fun putting it all back. She is 14months.

Lorna,
You have beautiful girls!  Isn't it such fun seeing what interests the grandchildren? Always a surprise around the bend.

Cost? Because prices have escalated since the good old days!

And expectation is that much greater?

Our children had nothing but what I made for them.

Tim when Grandchildren first started arriving they had presents all made by my late husband. Rocking Horses, Doll's Houses, Rocking Swans, Garages for the boys and Wendy Houses.
The older Grandchildren have still got most of them stored away in the lofts as they wouldn't part with them.
These day I usually give them a little amount of money to put towards something.
Thanks folk for all the kind remarks.

Call me old fashioned but what I like about the pictures - apart from the lovely smiles of course - is nice frocks that are suitable for young girls.  I can't stand seeing children dressed as mini adults.

I agree Georgie. My daughter told me that there are rules laid down as to what they can wear in competitions, not a bad idea. The only thing is that if you go to a specialist supplier they are so expensive, Alyson managed to find another outlet where she could purchase the dresses at a reasonable cost.

I didn't know the word "frocks" was still in use!  So pleased to see it as it reminds me of reading Nancy Drew books when I was a girl.
