Title: Passions for better/other halves
Post by: ninnyscrops on July 06, 2008, 22:13:25
My passion is my plot, but my dearest half has cricket as his number one (apart from me  ;D).

He will water, fetch and carry for me.

What interests other halves out there when we are busy sowing, planting, weeding and generally growing for the table?

Ray will dig, water etc if I ask him but ,he just loves a projct, latest is the chicken compound,
we have quite a few 'lads' who prefer doing this to sowing seed and planting..they like picking though  ;D

Jim is a great help to me on the plot when he has time. :)

Jim plays the fiddle, banjo,Guitar ,whistle, mandolin and Scottish smallpipes.
He is into Celtic music. He is very good at quoting Shakespeare.
He is also very good at washing up ,cooking and walking the dogs when I am down the plot. :)

Bearded Wonder loves golf and cards, watches any sport on the tele, hates anything garden related. I tried golf and thought it a waste of gardening time. ;D

Unfortunately for me,  every mans worst nightmare.  My OH goes shopping when I go to the plot on a weekend.  Wish she would come with me.  Save me a fortune if she did. 8) 8)

I ask her what she goes for to which she replies...... "I won't know till I see it"

Respect to Jim!

My Ole lady loves singing Irish songs, which means I have to supply the music on the concertina, but she is no help at all in the gardening department, in fact she is no help at all anywhere apart rom helping me spend my money.  if it wasn't for her perfect toad in the hole, I might have traded her in years ago.

Hubby is A Brain compared to me. He does number-related projects, engineering type stuff and volunteer organizational type work in the church and community and loves reading the rest of the time. Of no use in gardening though he will kindly haul rock and build a raised bed or arbor.  It would be more enjoyable if he were interested in gardening with me, but this set up does give me free reign to go berserk out there ;D

My Oh has visited the plot twice in 4 years - once when I took it on and once to get me back for tea.

His passions are golf, his MG and eating whatever I grow and cook (as long as it not coriander).

Golf and my plot are very compatible - both are better in dry weather and both swallow up 5 to 6 hours very easily. We can then get together at the end of the day having done something we both really enjoy. But the plot is better you can eat the outputs when you have done well - trophies are not very edible.
