Being a relative of bindweed you'd think they'd cover your whole plot in a few hours.
I use bought slips as you know, beauregard... coming on nicely now... come down and see them sometime... ( to paraphrase a well known saying!!)

one of them has a flower coming on, do I leave it on or does it take away from the tubers ?
I'd leave it just to get a photo... they are related to Morning Glory...

Pretty sure they let them flower in commercial cultivation. Flowering is rare in such temperate climates.
